Andrew starts his new job today! Needless to say, he was a complete ball of nerves this weekend. No matter how many times I told him everything was going to be great, he still looked like a wounded dove about to be killed by a cat.
Andrew does not like change; he is very much a creature of habit! However, I think more than anything, he was disappointed that his employment situation has worked out like this.
I really think he thought he was going to be at his previous job forever. And he probably would have been there forever, had he not seen the writing on the wall.
I think it was just a matter of time before he got laid off and not because of his work product or he quit from frustration.
I am sure he will miss his old buddies and the familiarity of his old office, but I know in my heart he is going to prosper, emotionally and financially, from his new job.
For one thing, he is going back to his roots, writing. He has an English degree and has never really used it.
At his previous place of employment, he worked on the office newsletter, but that was about it.
Now he will be writing everyday! Just like me! I think he is really excited about that. He is also going to be creating templates, style guides, and helping investigators become more consistent.
Who wouldn’t love that ;)
Best of luck to Sparky... I can't wait to here how well his first week goes!
