"...for the average person, the way to permanently reduce stress is to incorporate simpler things that make you happy into the ordinary fabric of your life."
The article goes on to talk about a 100 year old man who has rituals he abides by like reading the paper or cooking certain things, etc. It also says that these "simpler things" can be as simple as taking a walk in the park or eating ice cream at your favorite store.
I found the whole article to be very interesting. It was actually an article about aging (or anti-aging techniques/products), not really an article about stress. But to doctors, reducing stress is one of the most important anti-aging tools you can have and IT'S FREE. HA! I like to say free, but with a price :)
I need less stress in my life, so I think I am going to incorporate some of these "simpler things" into my life. Here are some I can think of off the top of my head:
Daily massages (yep, these would help reduce stress), chocolate truffles at 2:00 PM for an afternoon snack (oh yes, I feel the stress melting), shopping at the mall once a week (the steam is burning off), a maid to clean my house WEEKLY and do all the laundry...you know...the simple things :)
