It seems like Andrew and I have just been bitching at each other all day. I talk to my Mom, no fighting. I talk to Cara, no fighting. I talk to Karol, no fighting. I talk to other people all day, no fighting. I talk to Andrew, all HELL breaks loose! Maybe it is stress. Maybe it is the situation. Maybe we need a vacation already! I guess I just find him incredible insensitive. For instance, he called me a home during his trip to McDonalds during lunch. He asked me how I was doing and if things were okay (after learning about the miscarriage). I told him things were fine. He said oh you are not telling me everything; tell me dear, what is going on. So I go into this 10 minute conversation about what I am thinking. I stop talking. He says NOTHING. Then he says OMG there are these two men in the parking lot and I think they are looking at all the cars and are going to break into some of them......blah blah blah.......another 5 minutes of listening to him go on about these men. Then he stops and asks me if I am still there. I EXPLODE. WHAT THE F*CK. I am still here but HOW DARE you pressure me to talk about PERSONAL DEEP feelings and then you say nothing but instead talk about some strangers that may or may not be breaking into some cars in a parking lot. I lost it. I did. He sees nothing wrong with what he did. He said and I quote, "I am sorry some thieves caught my attention and distracted me from you." Then he has the nerve to ask me again how I was doing. UUUURRRGGGGHHHHH. Cara said he is just a man. But I find this type of behavior unacceptable. He does this to me all the time. This was not the first time. I think I need to just talk to my girlfriends about deep feelings and leave the easy ones to Andrew! What do ya'll think? Did I overreact?
So, I will say one thing...his "apology" wasn't really an apology. From my many years of dealing with a husband, I can tell you that "I'm sorry those two guys distracted me" is not equal to "I'm sorry that I didn't listen to you," "I'm sorry that I was insensitive," or "I'm sorry that I pressured you into sharing your feelings and then did not react appropriatly." What he actually wanted to say was "I'm sorry that you're being irrational dear because it's causing me grief." Tell him he owes you some EXTRA sensitivity right now.
And, yes, he's just being a typical man, but I have every faith that he can rise above it! :-)
